The Shrinky Dinks line has grown from the original frosted sheets to include white, clear and – the newest addition – plastic sheets for ink-jet printers. Even the youngest children can enjoy the process of artmaking with their families. Permanent markers can be used on either side, which makes it easy to add details and color. If it sticks to itself, carefully separate it and place it back in the oven until it lays flat. Remove from the oven when Shrinky Dink plastic has been laying flat for 30 seconds. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place your designs on top.
The sheets are printer compatible so you can easily print out your desired pattern or photo and create your own shrink art freestyle. The 2 kinds of shrink paper included in this kit – white and semitransparent – are perfect for creating unique and meaningful crafts. Little did I know, I was playing with one of the most popular crafting tools of the 80s and 90s – Shrinky Dink paper.

The designs are only 1cm tall so fit my rings perfectly. If you’re using the frosted type, remember to decorate the rough (frosted) side. You’re looking for large sheets of it, not pre-cut shapes.

Remember to use oven mitts when taking the tray out of the toaster oven, as it can get very hot, just like a conventional oven. The same rules apply — place your artwork on parchment paper on the baking tray and ensure there is enough space between each piece for airflow. Preheat your toaster oven to the recommended temperature of 325°F (163°C) and keep a close eye on your project.

It is not possible to cut the images after it has baked; they will be too thick. Many printers allow you to feed straight from the back so the thick paper is not forced to curl inside the machine. Be sure to make the image large enough; it will reduce by more than 50 percent after it has been baked.
